ALISON SNOWDON
Valuer and auctioneer at Fieldings Auctioneers
This is a rather sweet Edwardian dessert or fruit service that will date to around 1910. Such sets remind me of gentle Edwardian afternoon teas with an array of fruits, berries, cakes and delights, often elaborately presented. The marks on the bottom will likely be a painter’s mark or the shape or mould number. Without seeing an image of the symbol mark, I’m afraid I can’t tell you who is likely to have made it. At auction, I would suggest a value of £ 30 to £ 60. When factoring in that you may have a piece restored, sometimes it’s worth considering the cost of the restoration against the value of the item.
