Embroidered Japanese picture

I would love to know something about this embroidered picture of cranes. It belonged to my parents, who collected antiques, particularly Japanese ones, and I am guessing that it was bought by my father for my mother as a love token in the late 1930s. I do hope that one of your experts will find it interesting.
