ALL THAT GLITTERS
At 110.03 carats, The Lady Dalal diamond (formerly known as The SunDrop) stands as the largest known pear-shaped fancy yellow diamond to have ever sold at auction. Long prized among collectors, diamonds of this nature get their distinctive yellow colouring from specks of nitrogen within the structure of the crystal. The Lady Dalal sold at Sotheby’s Geneva in November 2011 for 11,282,500 CHF (roughly £8.6m) setting a world record price for a yellow diamond.
