‘This fine late 16th/early 17th-century Indo-Portuguese Gujarat mother-of-pearl and silver-mounted bowl with brass-mounted shallow dish sold in August 2017 for £22,000. It was a chance discovery – I spotted it in the hallway of a house on my way out after I’d valued some furniture. The vendors wanted to raise some money for a conservatory and they were delighted!’
