David Hunt Lighting’s Creative Director Hollie Moreland talks inspiration, trends and her favourite Welsh dresser

-

My background is in photography and my career started in graphic design. In the eight years since joining David Hunt, I have worked on every aspect of the creative side, and now I focus on the product development and design.

A typical day starts with a debrief with my production manager on new designs and development – and we may look at colour samples or new ! nishes that we are experimenting with. Because all of our pieces are handcra "ed in a workshop, I am able to work very closely with designs as they take shape.

Inspiration o en comes from everyday life. I live in the Cotswolds, which is an area of outstanding natural beauty, and I love watching the seasonal changes. Travel and discovering new cultures and landscapes is also essential for me to keep designs fresh and exciting.

Dickens is my favourite David Hunt Lighting range. It’s based on the traditional brass lighting that I grew up with in my childhood home. I tried to stay true to the classic style of the original, while giving it a sympathetic update.

Mixed metallics are a key look for 2018, and look fantastic alongside natural marble or walnut. Millennial Pink is also a strong hue, especially when paired with brass or gold.

My own home is best described as busy – children running around, muddy wellies and lots of colour! It’s very much lived in and loved. My favourite room is probably the kitchen, which is the heart of the home. I have a large Welsh dresser for showcasing my unique po#ery ! nds.
