Homes & Antiques

STAY CREATIVE, STAY POSITIVE

- Mel Sherwood, Editor

We all find ourselves in uncharted waters, and the good ship H&A is no exception; the entire editorial team is working from home. It is no mean feat to pull a magazine together remotely but, thankfully, the content of this issue is so uplifting that it has kept our spirits high – and it is my sincere wish that it will have the same effect on you.

Has all this time at home left you itching to redecorate? Flip to ‘ Colour Happy’ (p40), in which Sophie Hannam shows us the hues to use to help us stay calm and positive. Or, for a delightful moment of escapism, tour Bridget Elworthy’s classic English country home (p52), which boasts lush gardens, exquisite decor and myriad antiques.

While the fairs and auctions we adore so much are largely on hold, Rosanna Morris reveals 10 ways to buy antiques from home (p120). And Selina Lake also has an idea – she shows us how to style "owers in vases and vessels we may already own to create fresh displays (p81). I have some news of my own to add: this is my last issue at H&A’s helm. It has been four years since I joined the magazine and every issue has been an honour. It feels strange to move on at such a surreal time, but I am leaving the title in excellent hands. I will dearly miss the magazine, the team and you, the readers. Stay safe and well, everyone.

While we are all staying in, let’s get creative: restyle a display of antiques, take a snap and share it with us! Email us or nd us on social media (see page 8).
