GERALDTON WAXFLOWER
(Chamelaucium uncinatum; vase life, 2-3 weeks.)
These tiny Australian wild flowers are a dream for arranging and handy in mid-winter when you want a bit of colour.
Waxflowers Candlesticks with a lip for the bobeche or circlet to sit on Covered wire and fine stub wires, available from florist suppliers Secateurs
1| Wind the covered wire into sturdy circlets that are large enough to sit neatly on the top lips of the candlesticks. 2| Snip the branches of waxflower into smaller lengths. Make these up into bundles of three or four pieces, using a stub wire to bind each bunch together.
3| Attach the bundles to the circlets, one by one, fixing the middle of each bundle to the circlet with a stub wire. Keep adding bundles until the circlet is covered. I like mine to look quite wild and wayward. These can be made a couple of days in advance of a special occasion; mist with water and keep cool until ready to use.
