LITTLE THINGS COUNT
Ashley Hicks’ new book, Details (£45, Idea), is a glorious look at the minutia of great historic homes and buildings. Hicks zooms in on some of the finer points of architecture and décor: a jib door at Holkham Hall, a trompe l’oeil table top at Wimpole Hall positioned so the light falls in accordance to the painted shadows. He also opens up his own rooms at Albany – the exclusive residences hidden between Piccadilly and Savile Row decorated in his own idiosyncratic style.
