Homes & Gardens

WELCOME

At a recent event I listened to industry experts discuss the influence of global style on home interiors.

- DEBORAH BARKER, editor-in-chief

Britain has always absorbed ideas from di≠erent countries into its interior designs, mixing a diverse range of looks to fabulous e≠ect. We have brought this approach to our decorating story on page 65, which showcases artisan fabrics and furniture that take their cues from Eastern, African and South American design. While the end results are lively and eclectic, they are never simply thrown together. Instead, pieces sit in harmony to bring depth and character to room schemes that exude a sense of wanderlust.

Elsewhere in this issue we’re making the most of the last days of summer with a delicious menu of sharing plates that are best enjoyed outdoors in the company of friends and family. See page 124 for dishes that look as good as they taste. Also in full flourish at this time of year are our gardens. From a theatrical, formal design with an air of romance on page 110 to a naturalistic, modern scheme on page 118, there is much to inspire you.
