Lewene Ennett’s Welsh cob stallion Pentrefelin Sorento put on his dancing shoes to win the novice music at Field House.

LEWENE has had the 15-year-old for 10 years, initially on loan to show before buying him outright.

“I’ve had a great time showing him and he’s won at county level taking me all over the country, but dressage is a new challenge. We’re really enjoying it,” said Lewene. “I thought it would be fun to have a go at music so Equivisions put a great test together for me using line-dancing music and it really suits his personality.”

Sorento (Pentrefelin Jake x Parkways Flyer) has one offspring on the ground, Pentrefelin Serena, who won at the Scottish regionals in 2014.

“I’d love one by him but it’s a difficult decision to make as I don’t have the facilities and he’s very settled as a competition horse,” said Lewene.

At Aintree, Jenny Ainscough won both elementaries with her Showmaker gelding Showstar.

The seven-year-old was bought just over a year ago after Jenny saw him for sale on the internet.

“I’d trailed all around the country and over to Germany, had three horses fail the vet and then saw Showstar,” said Jenny. “I have a young family so needed something that would fit in with my home life and he really is a cuddly, gentle giant.”

The 17.2hh gelding’s next outing is at Aintree’s Area Festival.

“We’re doing the elementary at Aintree and then novice at the regionals and after we’ve got those out of the way we’ll crack on with the changes,” added Jenny, who trains with Laura Rowe.
