CLAIRE SMALLEY had the distinction of breeding the top four in the show pony first ridden class — Barkway Mr McGregor (right), Barkway Little Star, Barkway Moonfairy and Barkway Poet — and the lead-rein runner-up and section reserve, Barkway Sweet William.

“Little Star, Moonfairy and Poet are all by Beckside Little Toff, and McGregor and Sweet William are by Barkway Bubbling Fun, a grandson of Orielton Aristocrat,” said Claire. “This cross has been the basis of all our breeding.

“Toff has been an exceptional stallion — and at the age of 26, he’s also just had another mare, Charlesforge Anastasia, tested in foal to him for 2018.”
