ARE THEY TEARS OF JOY OR PAIN?
WHEN Pontefract-based home-producer Polly Coles posted her first Harrogate hunter victory, heading a line of 15 middleweights with the consistent Redwood Ash (right), she should have been at home in bed — not galloping for her life in the main arena.
She went on to finish second in the heavyweight cob class on Topp Hatt.
Two weeks previously, Polly had a crashing fall from a youngster, sustaining cracked ribs and a suspected fractured sternum.
“I was back in A&E five days ago and my doctor said yesterday I have to go for another X-ray,” said Polly, who claimed her HOYS ticket with the hunter win. “But there was no way I was going to miss this and when I won, I cried — I’m not sure if they were tears of joy or pain.”
