LETTER OF THE WEEK

-

Sir — As proud parents, we have just returned from our daughter’s graduation. She said she could not have achieved her degree in law without the lessons in work ethic, perserverance and determination learnt from riding and the Pony Club.

I applaud the British Horse Society initiative, “Changing Lives through Horses”, to offer more young people the life lessons learnt through horses. Riding is so much more than equestrian skills. So thanks to Biggles who planted while the other ponies went forward;

Polo who cantered off to join those doing jumping; Spumanti who my daughter stopped going backwards and turning right when the horse in front went left; and Robbie who loved dressage but put his foot down at jumping!

Many thanks to all at Rossshire branch of the Pony Club. Kaye Oliver Evelyn Tain, Ross-shire
