Eventing Oliver Townend

-

IT seemed as though the gods were conspiring against this 18-year-old on the morning of this event, where she recorded her first intermediate win in section Q.

“We had a blowout on our lorry en route and so I had to switch sections from the under-21 to the standard intermediate — the normal intermediate had more competitors and therefore I could get there in time to do a later dressage,” explained Isabel, who is taking a gap year to concentrate on riding. “I had only 10 minutes to warm up for my dressage.”

But her luck changed as she finished on her dressage of 25.5 in section Q riding her home-bred Quite Something.

“He was bred out of my mum’s dressage horse and was meant to be her next dressage horse, but thankfully for me he could jump,” laughed Isabel who hopes to do seven-year-old classes and young rider trials next year.
