Four Elms training centre’s competition rider had tested Grevens Tosca’s competitionreadiness of two weeks before. Then their best was a 65.68% medium. This time, they stepped down to elementary at Pachesham and scored 71.03% and 70.71%.

Tosca, a Danish-bred six-yearold by Blue Hors Touch Me, only arrived at Four Elms, Kent, the previous month.

Hayley said: “He was much more confident this time, although he still needs to relax through the frame more. He knows the tricks but lacks strength and competition experience. I think he could be an exciting horse and a keeper.”

Caitlin Fahy, 16, scored plus67% wins in both the prelim 17 and the novice 38 qualifier riding 12-year-old Connemara Moonshine Boy on their debut affiliated outing. The pair were recruited at the southern British Young Riders Dressage Scheme (BYRDS) camp in September.

After two years at advanced medium, Caroline Lelliott and 12-year-old Three Cups Romany Bay (RB) have earned some big scores. The pair recorded a 69% personal best advanced medium 98 at Petley Wood.

Caroline commented: “I bought RB as a two-year-old to bring on as a riding club horse but he was too nice to part with. We did some showjumping and eventing but switched to dressage five years ago. My trainer Sam Newbury (née Ray) has helped us all the way.

“We have worked hard on the flying changes and walk pirouettes and suddenly it’s all clicked and at last I’m riding like a dressage rider.”
