HEATWAVE COOL-DOWN
ROYAL NORFOLK organisers — widely renowned for their “customer care” — went to extreme lengths to counter the searing heat. Water was freely available everywhere for both competitors and connections, and mini jockeys were instructed that jackets need only be worn in the final line-up; while classes were in progress, they were also permitted to stand in the shade of nearby trees. However few took the opportunity to do so, bringing the issue of child — as well animal — welfare into the spotlight yet again.
