SUCH A THING AS A FREE LUNCH

ALL racing staff accompanying runners at Jockey Club racecourses will receive free meals.

Staff, including horsebox drivers, will receive vouchers on arrival entitling them to a free hot or cold meal.

The initiative started on 30 June, the beginning of Racing Welfare’s “Racing Staff Week”and will apply to every meeting at The Jockey Club’s 15 racecourses.

George McGrath, chief executive of the National Association of Racing Staff, said that the move is “very much appreciated by racing staff the length and breadth of the country”.
