EVENTING

If a reserve combination is substituted in, the team will incur 20 penalties. Reserves are to be allowed if a horse or rider cannot continue, rather than for tactical reasons

Order of phases to remain unchanged — dressage, cross-country, showjumping

Cross-country: 38-42 jumping efforts over c. 5,700m and 10-minute optimum time

For team classification, penalties for not completing a phase: 100 for dressage and showjumping, 200 for cross-country

SHOWJUMPING

The reserve is allowed to jump in the training session

Rankings to be involved in starting order, spreading the top-ranked nations across the draw — also for dressage

Individual event run before the team competition

In the team competition, elimination penalty is the number of penalties the lowest-placed combination already has, plus four

Subject to IOC approval, tactical substitutions will be allowed. Also for dressage

DRESSAGE

Team medals will be decided on the grand prix special only

A heat system to qualify for the special: the top two from each of six heats, and the next six overall best results

Top eight teams in the grand prix qualify for the special

The grand prix special will have background music
