A Muggle, admiring (possibly) a Heath Robinson-worthy arrangemen­t of baler twine holding the yard together (probably) asked in awe: “Is there anything you can’t mend with string?” No, nothing.

SHOWJUMPER­S

A rider at her first post-lockdown show was expecting to feel slightly inconvenie­nced by the new safety measures, but came back bubbling with enthusiasm. “I rode at the time they said I would, and was in and out within an hour!” she said, amazed, to her dressage-riding friend’s bemusement.

LAW

People are calling for a change to a Jamaican law under which district constables who own mules do not pay tax. We agree; make it horses and ponies too, and make it apply in Britain. Great law.
