PROPERTY gossip
Set deep in the Norfolk countryside is Barsham Manor, which Henry VIII called ‘my small country palace’. Built at the turn of the 16th century, it has eight bedrooms and over the years has played host to knights, politicians, celebrities and rock stars, as well as the Tudor king, who is documented as staying here several times, on each occasion with a di erent wife.
Now the Grade I-listed mansion is for sale, with a price tag of £3 million, which includes a three-bedroom cottage, all standing in five acres of gardens and grounds. Estate agent Paula Tuck of Abbotts Countrywide in nearby Burnham Market says Barsham Manor is resplendent with stained-glass windows, magnificent fireplaces and stoneflagged floors. ‘It’s stunning with plenty of scope to become your own little palace,’ she says.
