When hanging a mirror above furniture, choose one that is almost as wide as the piece below.

If hanging over a mantelpiece, position it at least 10-12cm above it to draw the eye up, adding height to the room and allowing space for ornaments.

Heavy designs need to be fixed securely, so ensure you have fixings that can cope.
