Clever combinations of cabinetry, worktops and lighting create designer style for less, says Robert Lawrence from Wren Kitchens

If you have plenty of space, enhance your scheme by including a stunning kitchen island with a black quartz worksurface to catch the eye and create a fabulous focal point.

Add midway shelf units that slot between worktops and wall cabinets to maximise every inch of space and serve as a display area for glassware and crockery.

For a modern, linear look, pale handleless units look sophisticated against a dark island.

Introducing copper accents through a splashback or lighting is an effective way to complete the luxe look.

Avoid filler panels and add a wine rack or pullout storage to give a made-to-measure feel.
