If you’re buying an energyeffi­cient new-build home, have a look at Barclays’ range of ‘green’ mortgages, which offer cheaper rates to homebuyers. The two- and five-year fixed-rate deals come with a 0.1 per cent discount on standard Barclays products, saving £750 on a £150,000 mortgage over five years. Only those buying new-build homes with a predicted Energy Performanc­e Certificat­e rating of A or B qualify.
