THE BEDROOM

-

This is a space that can easily accumulate clutter if you don’t make a concerted effort to keep it tidy and serene. Wardrobes are often major clutter zones. Methodically work your way through your clothing and shoes. If something doesn’t fit or is damaged, or if you simply haven’t worn it in years, sell, recycle or donate it. If possible, also banish anything from the bedroom that involves any sort of work, such as a desk, filing cabinet or exercise equipment. As a rule of thumb: any item that doesn’t either help you get ready for the day or relax you should be relocated to elsewhere in your home.

SPEEDY PROJECT – Dejunk your jewellery

Often, the jewellery we own is sentimental. Nonetheless, be selective about the items you hold on to. Store sentimental or valuable items somewhere safe; get rid of broken or unwanted pieces; and invest in trays, boxes or hangers for the things you want to keep.

THE BATHROOM

Typically shared by several people, this is a place where a variety of products is used and stored. In other words, the bathroom is potentially an organisation disaster zone! Create a simple daily cleaning routine, then give it a once-a-week deep clean or ‘sparkle’ clean.

SPEEDY PROJECT – Purge your products

Make-up and most other toiletries have a shelf life, so be mindful of expiry dates and get rid of them in a timely manner. Group items into categories and place in zippered bags – transparent wash bags are ideal. The bags keep things organised and set a space limit to prevent accumulating excess products or duplicates.
