Gene therapy could reverse blindness

One of the most common forms of blindness in young people could be partially cured using gene therapy. By reprogramm­ing the cells at the back of the eye to become light sensitive, researcher­s were able to give mice with retinitis pigmentosa a degree of vision. The team at the University of Oxford say the next step is to begin clinical trials.
