“The thing with Murph is that in a way I want to take his place without a doubt – only joking – but the competition is there. There is still the friendliness and camaraderie around the place, which is great,” said Ormsby.

“All the boys give each other some hammer, but we are all mates and you can speak to anyone and they would say the same thing.

“Murph is the kind of person where you can ask him anything and he will give you the best response and the most help, and Jerry is exactly the same.

“So as a winger it is good to have those two guys around.

“There is no resentment or holding back, obviously everyone wants to play, but they also see the picture as a whole.

“Everyone just wants the best for the team, it is a strange dynamic that you are competing with each other but everyone wants to achieve things together.

“When it comes to being selected it could be that people might get upset, but that’s just the way it is.

“At the end of the day it all boils down to what is best for the team and that is what everyone wants.”

And Ormsby is finding it easy to buy into the work head coach Stone is doing with the Giants – and he reckons he is straight out of the same mould as Wolves boss Smith.

“I really like Rick. He has a really strong dynamic and he knows how to do things,” explained Ormsby.

“He can have a joke, but he can also turn it on as well so that everyone knows he is the boss.

“If Rick feels he needs to pull rank then he will pull rank, but I think he strikes a really good balance – so he is approachable but also very much the boss.

“I think players want that, so there is a line and it can be friendly but sort of friendly enough. He is very similar to Tony Smith and I am used to that style of coaching where he is approachable but you also know that he definitely the gaffer.”

Ormsby is also enjoying a preseason that is being built by new conditioner Steve Walsh.

“Pre-season has been good but it has also been tough,” said Ormsby.

“We are back in and the boys have been working hard and there is a really good feeling about the place.

“The likes of Kruise (Leeming) and Murph have been keeping things really upbeat, and I am really loving it and Steve Walsh is great.

“He is kind of an old-school conditioner, but he also does the odd thing that is off the wall.

“He is not like a textbook guy in that role.

“He has been there done that and has that old school kind of approach that keeps things interesting.

“I think rugby league players appreciate that and he is very smart at his job.”

The RFL have released a statement to clarify their position on Bradford Bulls’ current position and confirmed that Odsal cannot be sold by the administrator.

The iconic ground is owned by the RFL and it has been speculated that some of the interested parties would only be interested in buying the club if Odsal was a part of the deal.

The RFL have clarified they would be willing to discuss the sale of Odsal, but that it is not for the administrator to sell.
