MOST teams are over half way through the Huddersfield District League season but there are still some that have played more than others.
As an example, in Division One, Shelley have played 15 with only seven left to play, but one position – and more importantly only one point – below them are Kirkheaton who have played only eight, with 14 still to play.
The league has been fortunate enough so far that there have been no set of fixtures cancelled due to waterlogged pitches, snow or ice, but we shouldn’t speak too soon as traditionally the worst weather is still to come.
There were many cup matches played, with the most senior of these being Huddersfield FA Cup.
The stand-out result was AFC Lindley, going well in Division Two, beating top of West Riding Division One side Britannia 5-1.
Another West Riding side were more fortunate as they beat Shepley 3-1.
There were also wins for Kirkheaton, who squeezed past Heywoods 3-1 after extra time, and Holmbridge who beat Junction 3-2.
In the Huddersfield FA Trophy for Reserve sides, there was a great victory for Reserve Division Four side Deighton, who had a great 9-0 victory over Reserve Division Two side Scissett.
