Stabbing at country pub

Mr Bennett, who had been drinking heavily, was spotted by police officers pointing a gun out of the window of his flat.

Armed police were alerted and within minutes of arriving started to move their van in front of the flat.

Mr Bennett was shot after appearing to point another replica shotgun at armed police.

Dramatic footage taken on a camcorder by a neighbour recorded the fateful moment he was shot.

A police van was seen to move in front of the flat with a bright torchlight shone up at the window.

Police were heard to yell at him to put the gun down and then the fateful shots were fired. A WORKER was stabbed after two men forced their way into a popular country pub.

Detectives are appealing for informatio­n following a robbery on Monday at Shibden Mill Inn, a 17th century country inn close to the Shibden Hall estate in Halifax.

It happened between 5.15am and 5.45am.

A male member of staff who was alerted by an alarm went to the bar area where he was threatened before the suspects made off with a number of items.

He suffered a minor stab wound which required hospital treatment.

The suspects are described as white, in their 20s, about 5ft 10ins tall and they wore grey fleece tracksuits and trainers.
