Panthers make a push for promotion
NEWSOME Panthers are making a concerted drive for promotion from the Pennine League’s second division.
They won 24-16 away at Clayton, following up a 62-4 thrashing of leaders Hanging Heaton in the previous round of matches, and the third-placed Panthers are now just two points off the new table-toppers Ossett Trinity Tigers.
Lindley Swifts will be looking to complete a hat trick of derby wins in the Championship on Saturday.
They followed up a 22-8 home win over St Joseph’s with a 40-4 win at Underbank Rangers, and they will look to make it three in a row as they go to Joes at the weekend.
