A chance to size up City’s threat tonight

-

TOWN fans, staff and players will be able to run the rule over FA Cup opponents Manchester City as they travel to Bournemouth in the Premier League tonight (8pm).

While preparations are fully focused on Huddersfield’s Championship trip to Rotherham tomorrow, the televised Premier League clash is a useful chance to see how fifthplaced City are looking ahead of Saturday’s much-anticipated Cup match at the John Smith’s Stadium.

City have played some exhilarating football for which manager Pep Guardiola is renowned in compiling a four-game unbeaten run since suffering a humbling 4-0 loss at Everton last month.

Guardiola has selection decisions to make over whether to restore Claudio Bravo in goal in place of Willy Caballero and whether to recall top scorer Sergio Aguero in attack.

Aguero has been on the bench for the last two league games while new signing Gabriel Jesus has impressed.

In yesterday’s Premier League games, Robbie Brady’s stunning debut goal checked Chelsea’s title charge as Burnley maintained their impressive home form in a 1-1 draw at Turf Moor.

Republic of Ireland international Brady, a £10million deadline-day signing from Norwich, curled a home a superb 20-yard free-kick to cancel out Pedro’s early opener for Chelsea.

The point from the draw meant the Blues went 10 points clear at the summit.

Leicester City’s relegation fears increased as the reigning champions suffered a fifth straight league defeat after another poor show at fellow strugglers Swansea City.

Defender Alfie Mawson’s sublime volley set the Swans on their way to a third win in four games after Federico Fernandez’s cushioned header.

The hosts increased their lead on the stroke of half-time, Martin Olsson blasting past Kasper Schmeichel for his first goal since joining from Norwich last month.

Leicester’s best chance fell to Islam Slimani but the substitute was denied by Lukasz Fabianksi’s fine block.

Claudio Ranieri’s side drop to 17th, one place and one point above the relegation zone with 13 matches remaining.

On Saturday, two goals from Alexis Sanchez got Arsenal back on track as they moved up to third in the Premier League table with a hard-fought 2-0 success at home to Hull.

Manchester United kept in touch with Arsenal and the rest of the pack chasing runaway leaders Chelsea thanks to a 2-0 win over Watford at Old Trafford.

United dominated the first half and had their reward in the 32nd minute when Juan Mata side-foooted them in front, before Anthony Martial’s third goal of the season doubled the advantage on the hour.

A string of saves by Ben Foster helped West Brom retain their fivepoint cushion over West Ham, in eighth and ninth, with a 2-2 draw at the London Stadium.

Southampton cruised to a 4-0 Premier League victory at bottom-ofthe-table Sunderland while Crystal Palace’s trip to Stoke brought them no respite thanks to Joe Allen’s 67thminute winner as Mark Hughes’ mid-table hosts prevailed 1-0.

Everton remain unbeaten in eight league matches, but Ronald Koeman’s men might have hoped for better from their visit to the Riverside, where Middlesbrough managed to hold them to a stalemate.
