Aguero back in business ahead of Town FA Cup clash

the Premier League after their 2-0 win at Bournemouth and are now within eight points of the leaders Chelsea – though Guardiola stills feels the title will be very hard to win.

“It’s so difficult to catch Chelsea,” said the 46-year-old, whose team will resume their Champions League campaign against Monaco at the Etihad Stadium next Tuesday after their meeting with Town.

“Chelsea have to lose three games, and we have to win all our games.

“You know how difficult that is in the Premier League.

“But our play has been more stable since the Arsenal and Tottenham games – we are improving.”

However, the Town camp will be eager to see just who they face when it comes to the City attack.

Guardiola faces being without £27m signing Gabriel Jesus for some time after the 19-year-old broke a metatarsal bone against Bournemouth.

The replacement is most likely be Sergio Aguero, who forced the own goal from fellow substitute Mings with his close-range finish at Dean Court, and Guardiola insists the Argentina international still has a huge part to play for City.

“I’m happy for him. For how he played, how he tried, and for how he scored,” said the Spaniard of the Argentine striker, whose future has been the subject of speculation.

“He’s an important player. He didn’t play the last few games because the three guys (Jesus, Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane) were amazing. That’s why they’d played.

“Now it’s the cup, then the Champions League, and the Premier League is still there. That’s why we need a contribution from Sergio – he’s so important for us.” THE Huddersfield District League are to allow clubs to reschedule their kick-off times on Saturday.

Clubs have stated that a number of players are intending to attend the Huddersfield Town FA Cup tie with Manchester City.

The League have said they have no issue with clubs arranging to play their fixtures earlier in the day to accommodate this.

However, any change to the fixture time must be agreed by both clubs and confirmation needs to be sent to the League by both clubs involved.

Changing the kick-off time may result in referees not being available and clubs are asked to inform the referee and the referees appointments secretary.
