YOUR HOME GREEN DAY I

-

MANAGED to do something I hadn’t done for a very long time recently. It was a moment that sadly was over with very quickly, but still, it was enjoyed very, very much.

If I close my eyes now, I can still remember how lovely it was.

It was lunchtime and I was working from home.

I’d put my computer to one side, made myself something to eat, and briefly checked in on Loose Women to see what my girlfriends were up to.

Then, and this is the exciting part, I took the remainder of my food, walked through the open back door and sat on the back step. The dog looked at me confused – what was this madness? As I ate the rest of my lunch, I raised my face to the sky because there, for the first time in an eternity, was the sun. I closed my eyes and enjoyed my first natural hit of vitamin D this year. Within minutes, however, my reverie was broken by a cloud and the temperature dropped back again to its February norm sending me scurrying indoors.

My outside break had done me the world of good, though. It had reminded me of the simple joy that sitting in the garden surrounded by nature can bring.

I know we are months away from enjoying our outside spaces in their full glory, but who’s to say we can’t bring some of that magical green glow indoors?

There’s a reason this beautiful hue has been made Pantone’s colour of the year for 2017. We’ve long known that going green is good for us, so why not give it a go!
