Affordable social rented homes ready for autumn

-

HUDDERSFIELD Community Trust are hosting sports camps for the Easter holidays.

The camps will focus on a variety of sports such as table tennis, rounders, kwik cricket, football, rugby, dance and gymnastics.

A multi-sport camp kicks off from Tuesday, April 18, and runs to Friday, April 21, throughout the second week of the Easter holidays.

Whilst the dance, rugby and football camps will still run throughout the first week of the Easter break, the trust hope that the variation of sport provided in the multi-sport camp will enable children to develop their skills within sports that they don’t usually take part in.

The camp will include some extras including a tour of the John Smith’s Stadium and an opportunity to meet some of the Huddersfield Giants.

Lisa Hewitt, CEO of Huddersfield Community Trust, said: “We’ve had fantastic turn outs for our regular dance, rugby and football camps and seen the children that attend our camps come on leaps and bounds both in their skill development and confidence.”

The four-day camp will be held at The Zone, Huddersfield, at £60 per child if booked before 24 March. Sibling discounts are available.

For more details or to book, contact reception@huddersfield communitytrust.co.uk or call 01484 484170.

Councillor Naheed Mather, Cabinet member for housing at Kirklees Council, said: “I am delighted to see the work get underway.

“The council, Sadeh Lok and Incommunities have worked hard to ensure this scheme goes ahead. The new development has been designed in a way that not only secures access for cyclists and pedestrians using the adjacent greenway, but also creates a quality development for new residents.”

The brownfield site, formerly a disused goods yard, is in Aquamarine Drive and was drawn up by Incommunities’ in-house development team.

Hussain Brook, head of Sadeh Lok, said: “I’m delighted to see great progress being made on this development which will deliver more social rental homes for local people.”
