DAD STABBED BY GANG WHO ‘STOLE FROM SON’
SERIOUSLY INJURED MAN AIRLIFTED TO HOSPITAL AFTER ‘HORRIFIC’ ATTACK
A DAD has been stabbed by a gang in an attack described as “horrific” by police.
The man was badly hurt after confronting a group and accusing them of stealing from his son.
The victim, a 41-year-old man, suffered serious injuries in the attack after tackling the group of three to four in Fartown on Sunday.
West Yorkshire Police said he had approached the group who reportedly made the attempt to steal from his son on Pollard Street.
The man was later stabbed behind a bank on Bradford Road. A police cordon remained in place at the scene yesterday morning.
The father was taken to Leeds General Infirmary by the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and is said to be in a stable condition.
His injuries are not thought to be lifethreatening.
Three men have been arrested and are being questioned.
Det Insp Mark Walker, of Kirklees CID, said: “This is a horrific assault which has left a man with serious injuries. The incident happened in broad daylight on a busy road.
“I would appeal for anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area between 4.30pm and 5pm on Sunday to please get in touch.
“I would also urge anyone who witnessed the attempted robbery or the assault itself to contact police.”
