Up first was Huddersfield Billiards champion Matthew Peaker who took on Jez Ford.

It was Peaker who made the stronger start with some consistent scoring with a couple of 30 odd breaks to open up a lead of 75 at the half way stage, as the scores stood at 101-26.

Ford hit back with a 30 break of his own, but it was Peaker who ran out with another 30-plus break to take the first game 200-109.

Up next was Steve Whiteley against Julian Hodge.

It was Whiteley who made the better start knocking in a break of 53 to open up a lead of 69-36.

Hodge followed this straight away with a 52 break of his own to take the lead at 88-69. With some smaller contributions from both players,

Hodge kept in front at 119-99 and 152-136.

Whiteley having now reduced the lead to only four points, broke down with the scores standing at 170-166 and Hodge stepped in to run out with a 30 break to take the second match 200-166.

Up next was David Peaker, who was up against John Ingleby.

It was Peaker who made the better start with the help of a 35 break on his first visit to the table, but Ingleby hit back with a couple of smaller breaks to leave the scores standing at 69-59 in Peaker’s favour.

Peaker then posted a 37 break to lead 124-84 as Ingleby was finding the going a little tougher as Peaker was getting into his stride and scoring at regular intervals, he soon opened up his lead even further to 171-130.

On his next visit, Ingleby made a 30, but broke down and left Peaker in prime position to which he ran out with an unfinished break of 30 to take the final match 200-160.

The result leaves Huddersfield No1 in second place in the table, seven points behind leaders Bradford.

However, they have the advantage of a game in hand on the rivals and a win would send them back to the top.

Matthew Peaker 200-109 Jez Ford 3pts-1pt Win, Steve Whiteley 166-200 Julian Hodge 2pts-3pts Loss, David Peaker 200-160 John Ingleby 3pts-2pts Win – Overall Won 8-6
