Title push

-

Crown 6-1, while Fothergill beat bottom club Mount 4-0 and both clubs still have enough matches left to avoid finishing the season as the bottom placed team.

In the Reserve Divisions, with Newsome already having secured the title, attention turns to the other end of the table.

All clubs still have a chance of avoiding the drop but bottom placed Britannia may find this hardest as they need to win both their remaining matches to stand any chance after they lost 3-1 to Skelmanthorpe.

Diggle need to win both their remaining games to secure second place from Skelmanthorpe.

In Reserve Division Two Linthwaite played their last game of the season and made sure of the title in style, beating Scissett 6-0.

Although Moorside in third place have six matches in hand over, the win now means they can’t be caught.

Under normal circumstances and despite their loss to Berry Brow, this weekend’s results would ordinarily have meant that Kirkheaton A were also promoted, but as their ‘first’ reserve side are in the Division above, this place will go to another team so there are still honours to play for lower down the division.

The only match played by Reserve Division Three teams was a Gee Cup quarterfinal tie between Berry Brow A and Uppermill and Mill won this 5-1 and progress to the semi where they will play Junction.

In Reserve Division Four the top three teams all won.

Fothergill & Whittles beat Honley ‘A’ 7-3, Littleborough beat Cumberworth B 3-2 whilst Deighton beat Scholes A 3-0.

Although there are still a few matches still t be played, it’s looking more and more likely that these three will be the promoted sides as although Uppermill A are in fourth place, they have played at least two more matches than those teams above them.
