Chance for youngsters to try their hand at sport

Some of the 52 pupils at North Huddersfie­ld Trust School who were rewarded for good behaviour with a trip to the UK Superbowl

The camp will be taking place from Tuesday, April 18 to Friday ,April 21, throughout the second week of the Easter holidays.

While the dance, rugby and football camps will run throughout the first week of the Easter break, the Trust hope that the variation of sport provided in the multi-sport camp will enable children to develop skills they may not usually have the opportunit­y to try. PUPILS with outstandin­g behaviour enjoyed a treat to reward their efforts.

North Huddersfie­ld Trust Year 7 students who had no negative behaviour marks for the whole academic year so far enjoyed a trip to UK Superbowl on Leeds Road.

Miss Laura Taylor, teacher of PE, was thrilled with the success of the trip.

As well as a selection of activities, the camp will include extras including a tour of the John Smith’s Stadium, an opportunit­y to meet the players of Huddersfie­ld Giants and a guest appearance from the Giants mascot Big G!

Lisa Hewitt, chief executive of Huddersfie­ld Community Trust said: “The aim of the additional camp is to enable children to try other sports that they may not get the were treated to a sit-down meal.

“Each and everyone of them thoroughly deserved this celebratio­n to reward their good behaviour, and we look forward to taking them again when they continue their outstandin­g example throughout the rest of the year.”

The staff involved were Miss Taylor, Mr Bashir and Miss Lenk and there was healthy competitio­n between both staff and students. opportunit­y surroundin­gs.

“We’ve had fantastic turn-outs for our regular dance, rugby and football camps and seen the children that attend our camps come on leaps and bounds both in their skill developmen­t and confidence.”
