Frustrated, yes, but never lacking belief in the Giants

ROGER’S letter (April 14) referring to me as ‘stepping back from the Giants’ left me puzzled as nothing could be further from the truth.

I haven’t missed a match, home or away, this season and have increased my financial support for the club. I see or speak to Richard Thewlis and his team almost daily and in the past two weeks I have addressed our players, lunched with Rick Stone and staff, plus attended board meetings and a Super League meeting. Hardly stepping back!

Nonetheles­s, I share his and other supporters’ frustratio­n and disappoint­ment at some of our results.

We have a strong and talented squad who are capable of achieving much more than our current position indicates, certainly top eight and likely top four.

Silly mistakes and penalties have cost us dearly but we still have everything to play for and I would urge everyone to come down and support the Giants. Equally, I would urge any supporter who has concerns to please contact either myself or Richard directly at the club. We are always delighted to hear from you and will respond.

Lastly, as regards Roger’s ‘chicken and the egg’ query.

In 2013, 14 and 15 the Giants had their best three consecutiv­e seasons for 100 years and it was bitterly disappoint­ing that our support didn’t increase as we hoped.

As we now endure a rough patch I urge you to come on down to watch the Giants for nothing beats being at a live match. THE Chinese have a saying “we live in interestin­g times.” They are a polite race and use this expression in order to avoid exaggerati­on or escalation when
