Sleepless Bridge as Nawaz looms!

-

Armitage Bridge bowler Danny Moorhouse will be aiming to thwart Hoylandswaine’s top run-scorer Gharib Nawaz tomorrow. Below: Kiwi all-rounder Jaycob Curtling tomorrow in the Drakes Premiership.

Nawaz has scored centuries in each of the opening two matches and will be looking for a third straight ton down the Holme Valley.

He is also heading up a batting order which piled up 455-8 against East Bierley in the Heavy Woollen Cup last time out.

New signing from Cleckheaton, Chris Holliday, hit a double century in that match, which the Swaine won by just 29 runs in the end, while Gurman Randhawa contributed 90 to the total.

Don’t forget SP Singh, who steered the Haigh Lane men to victory over Skelmanthorpe with 75 not out.

So the Bridge attack could have their work cut out as they seek a first win of the season to provide confidence ahead of Sunday’s All Rounder Sykes Cup home tie against Kirkheaton.

Joint leaders Swaine are on their travels on Sunday to Barkisland, who have struggled so far in the league and are hunting a first win.

That is one of only two allPremiership ties, the other being Cawthorne v Thongsbridge, who will be getting to know each other very well over the next few days.

Those two meet in the league tomorrow at Miry Lane before reconvening at Dark Lane on Sunday in the cup.
