Town Ladies on a mission at Ewood

-

TOWN Ladies are looking forward to playing at Ewood Park!

Their next match is against league champions Blackburn Rovers on Monday, May 8, and it will be played at the home ground of their opponents’ parent club (7.45pm).

Meanwhile, Town’s Under 18 side won 12-1 at Sheffield FC Blue.

It was the 141st and final time the girls took the field as juniors and for the 120th time finished on the winning side.

Of the other 21 games over the last six years, 10 have been drawn and 11 lost.

The final trophy haul runs to three Sheffield and Hallamshire league titles, five Sheffield and Hallamshire League Cup wins, two Skelmersdale Tournament victories, one Futsal tournament and an Aces National Championship.

There have been 31 different players, eight of whom have played over 100 games and all but one of the players used have scored at least one goal for the team.

The 141 matches have yielded 835 goals with 130 conceded with 10 players contributing at least 30 goals.

For a record 11th time this season the girls reached double figures in a game.

Amy Broomhead (pictured) and Ella Harris netted to get Town going, before Tara Duce, playing her first game since January, netted and Jodie Lodge produced a cross which was turned in by Broomhead.

Five minutes before the break a Duce corner was headed home by Harris for 5-0 half time.

Ellie Womersley pounced before Broomhead and Harris each completed their hat tricks.

Further goals from Womersley, Broomhead and Harris twice completed the scoring.

A second-place finish to go with the cup win this season, with 21 of the 24 matches won and 190 goals scored, was excellent reward.

Broomhead finished the season as the leagues top scorer with 58 goals and Harris second with 47.

The Under 15 team beat Rotherham United Whitehill 6-1.

Macy Ellis (3) and one each from Jess Barrow, Courtney Livsey and Zoe Laughton did the damage for second-placed Town, who finished two points behind Doncaster Belles.

The Under 13s were beaten 3-1 by a strong AFC Pogmoor in the Sheffield and Hallamshire League Cup final.

Despite chances for Jada Simon and Chloe Latham Town were one down at the break, with top player Kiera Millward making at least one top-class save.

The second half started quieter but then 15 minutes in a couple of chances fell to Tamara Wilcock and then Scarlett Taylor but neither could convert.

Pogmoor broke away and scored to double their lead but Isobella Kington netted five minutes from time to give Town hope.

However, Pogmoor got a goal near the end to seal victory.
