Meltham take Shield as all of the major issues settled

-

AS the Huddersfield District League season nears the end, most of the promotion and relegation places have been decided, with just a selection of matches now remaining.

In Division One, Diggle finished off their season with an 8-4 victory over Kirkheaton, who themselves have done well to catch up the matches they had left and now have only two remaining and are comfortably safe of the relegation zone.

Holmbridge and Heywoods still have a chance of second place.

In Division Two, fixtures are now complete with Berry Brow as champions, as they finished the season with a 4-4 draw with Marsden and then a 6-0 victory over Scissett.

Linthwaite finished in second place with AFC Lindley managing to hold Colne Valley to a 1-1 draw, meaning they will be promoted at Colne Valley’s expense.

At the bottom, Scissett, Cumberworth and Holmfirth Town will play third tier football next season.

All matches are finished in Division Three with the exception of one match that the league still need to rule on, and currently AFC Dalton and Brook Motors are on the same points as 3D Dynamos with only one of these to be promoted along with champions Almondbury Woolpack and Moorside.

Flockton, Wooldale and Almondbury WMC will be relegated.

In Division Four, all matches are also now completed – on the grass at least, with the League to adjudicate over a couple of matches.

This shouldn’t affect any promotion issues, though, as Dalton Dynamos, Fothergill & Whittles and Littleborough are all completed and will be promoted. Mount finished bottom of the league.

In the Reserve divisions, just a couple of matches remain on paper for Division One champions Newsome as their opponents could not raise a side, so they will finish the season with only two defeats.

Diggle finished in second place whilst at the other end of the table, Britannia, AFC Lindley and Holmbridge will be relegated to Division Two.

In Reserve Division Two, again all matches are completed on the field with just a couple of matches to be adjudicated on as clubs failed to raise sides for their last fixtures.

Linthwaite are promoted as champions and Moorside also promoted. Kirkheaton A finished third but as they have a reserve side in the division above, this side can not be promoted, so it is likely Berry Brow will go up instead.

Wooldale, Scissett and Brook Motors will be relegated.

Reserve Division Three is now fully complete, and Uppermill are champions and will be promoted along with AFC Dalton and Honley.

The relegated sides are Mount, Slaithwaite and Almondbury Woolpack.

In Reserve Division Four, the three promoted sides were all involved in highscoring results in their final matches, with champions Fothergill & Whittles beating Cartworth Moor 11-1, whilst second played third and Deighton came out on top against Littleborough as they beat them 7-0. Hade Edge A finish the season as the bottom Reserve Club.
