HANGING OUT WITH THE MOVIE STARS

FINNAIR has announced that it will start flying non-stop from the UK to Kittilä, in Lapland, in addition to its previously announced new service to Ivalo.

The new direct service will link London Gatwick and Kittilä once a week from December 12 until the end of March 20, 2018.

Lapland is best known for offering a range of winter activities including ice fishing, experiencing the Northern Lights, skiing, husky safaris and reindeer sleigh rides.

Finnair will operate weekly flights between London Gatwick and Kittilä on Tuesdays, using Airbus A320 aircraft.

Return fares from London Gatwick to Kittilä start at £169, with return fares from London Gatwick to Ivalo start at £15.

I catch the bus at the bustling Yonge and Dundas intersection between downtown Garden District and Moss Park. Leaving every 20 minutes, the tour costs £22 for an adult ticket, £12 for children and £63 for a family ticket. There are 22 points of interest along the way, plus the chance of a harbour cruise.

The two hours fly by thanks to the tour guide’s commentary and regular photo stops. You can hop on and off at the designated spots, and there’s a comfort break halfway round the circuit. The company also offers visits to Niagara Falls, but plan them carefully to ensure you don’t have to rush it.

Towering over the Toronto skyline, the CN Tower stands 1,815 feet above Downtown, and boasts the world’s highest full-circle hands-free walk. Whatever your brain might tell you, it’s very safe.

After a safety briefing we head to the glass lift then we’re up and out.

From the top of the tower you get the best view of Toronto possible without climbing aboard a helicopter. The adrenalin courses through your body – and it’s all captured on camera to share with friends.

Would I do it again? Yes, but next time at night, which apparently is a completely different experience. I’m so overcome I buy a mug and a fridge magnet.

After hitting the heights, I dive underground to Ripley’s Aquarium, a TARDIS-like attraction that seems bigger on the inside than the outside.

It offers a totally immersive spectacle with plenty of opportunity
