Man struck by a car then hammer in vicious Dalton attack

The incident, which happened between 12.15am and 12.45am, was one of two on the same road that night.

An 18-year-old man was robbed at knifepoint by a man in his 20s around the same time.

The event at the University of Huddersfie­ld has been arranged in response to cuts in funding for youth work services that have resulted in council-run youth clubs closing across the district.

The programme includes presentati­ons from three organisati­ons that have successful­ly overcome the challenges facing youth services and will be made by Peter Norman from Doncaster Youth Alliance; Dean Grice from the Huddersfie­ld Town Foundation and Serena Johnson from Conscious Youth, Huddersfie­ld which supports young people aged 13 to 25 with their aspiration­s. These will be followed by workshops and discussion­s.

The event will start at 9.30am in the School of Education, Lockside Building, Firth Street, Huddersfie­ld.
