The Mirfield side eventually scraped home with eight balls to spare and their last two at the wicket – Walker on 19 not out and Sykes unbeaten on five – and they are now up to third in the table.

Hoylandswaine remain top after a hard-earned win against in-form Honley.

Former Honley player Max Joice taunted his old team with 78 and SP Singh hit 59 as Swaine totalled 288-9 at Haigh Lane – skipper Simon Kelly picking up five wickets and Kiwi Brett Randell three.

Kelly (62) and Will Fraine (54) gave Honley a very solid start in reply, but Muhammad Bilal (five for 77) took wickets in the middle order and Honley eventually closed on 254, with a point for their efforts.

Mosun Hussain scored another century for second-placed Delph as they defeated struggling Golcar.

After the visitors had been sent back for 178, Daniel Woodhead making the best contribution with 39, Hussain scored a fine 107 not out to ensure no problems for Delph, who had been rained off the previous day.

Nathan Jones hit 41 and Shree Goswami 24 not out, while the men who took the wickets for Delph were Shakir Muhammad and Arron Lilley, with three apiece.

While Scholes were caught on a ‘sticky dog’ and lost by six wickets at Cawthorne, Shepley scored a terrific four-run win over Barkisland to make it a 12-point programme.

Alex Scholefield took six for 61 for Barkisland to help peg Shepley to 157 all out – Danny Wood scoring 41 down the order.

Barkisland edged towards their target thanks to 58 from Ben Westwood at No8 but they were eventually all out for 153.

At Armitage Bridge, Danny Moorhouse took five for 36 to set up victory over Skelmanthorpe.

Ibrar Younas scored 38 not out but Skelmanthorpe were bowled out for just 114 in 40 overs.

Saqib Matlub hit 44 in the Bridge reply and Jaycob Curtling 28, Andy Gledhill seeing them home with 12 not out.
