Thank you for making a grown man weep with joy
IN reply to Paul Kirby, of Wetherby, and his thoughts about the game “...had I forked out over £100 to go and watch that sort of quality I would be mighty miffed...” that’s the typical comment of a Yorkshireman, I assume!
As a Town fan since a 10-yearold I vaguely remember the heady days of the top flight ... just!
All I can say is, yes the game was poor, Reading were so negative and defensive it was embarrassing and Town should have been home and dry by half time!
They weren’t and it went to a nailbiting shoot-out, but we’ve Germans in the side and that filled me with hope.
When Herr Schindler buried his penalty my daughter, my girlfriend and I, along with 38,000-plus Town fans, went mad.
Then reality set in and I wept like a child. Why? Because I never thought I would see my beloved football club in the Premier League in my time on this earth, but I have and, in conclusion to Mr Kirby, I didn’t care about the performance, we’re up and it cost me a lot more than £100 to be there but I wouldn’t have missed it for anything.
I think Dean Hoyle and Herr Wagner know what’s needed ... Paul, be positive, don’t be negative, support the team, the club, as I season ticket holder I will.
Up the Terriers and thank you for making a grown man weep with joy on Monday.
