Question hangs over the future of Theresa May
“It’s my judgment that I was fired because of the Russia investigation. I was fired in some way to change, or the endeavour was to change, the way the Russia investigation was being conducted. That is a very big deal and not just because it involves me” WHAT happened?
Complacency and hubris by the Conservatives who believed the general election landslide was a shoe in! They underestimated the ability of the electorate to see through the spin around Theresa May.
The more they saw and heard her the more it became obvious that the reality was nothing like the image. Here was a politician putting her party before the country. Her refusal of head-to -head debates with the other party leaders or even meet the voters weakened her “strong and stable” brand.
The Conservative manifesto went down like a lead balloon. The screeching U-turn on paying for care and no costing for any policies was indefensible by even their most skilled media operators. The 12 seats they won in Scotland have made it possible for them to form a minority government with the help of the DUP, who will no doubt exact more than their pound of flesh in return, making Northern Ireland more unstable.
Worst of all, they underestimated not just Mr Corbyn but the Labour party members who were out campaigning on the doorstep and using social media effectively. A reasonable and costed manifesto with something for everyone except the top 5% of earners meant they offered hope rather than yet more austerity.
Add to that the assumption made by not just the Conservatives but also the media commentators, which appears to have been disproved, that those who voted UKIP previously
