Club revives the fun of traditional board games
A NEW community initiative involving 22 schools has been set up in Dewsbury.
The Thrive Hub has been launched to link communities with schools ‘from cradle to career’.
It aims to “create collaborative, constructive links within the school’s network and between different agencies to ensure effective and efficient and targeted use of scarce resources.”
Michael Rowland, head of Thornhill Junior and Infant School, said: “We recognise that fewer public services are available to our families and our schools, so we are working together as a whole and in our clusters to improve the opportunities available to our children whilst they are in our care.
“As we develop we will be working hard to organise community activities, signpost the support available in our communities to our children and families, sharing best practice amongst our schools, working with external agencies to improve the resources available locally and helping our area ‘thrive’.”
The hub consists of three clusters called Thrive South, Thrive East and Thrive West; Thrive South covers eight schools in the Thornhill and Savile Town area, including Thornhill Junior and Infant School. Thrive West covers Dewsbury Moor, West Town and Ravensthorpe areas and Thrive East covers the Earlsheaton, Chickenley and Shawcross areas.
