Inspectors award ‘good’ grade to Fartown school
A CONGREGATION in Fartown has raised nearly £900 for Kirkwood Hospice.
Hospice fundraiser Nicola Jane gave a talk at the Sikh Temple in Fartown and shared with the congregation its role providing end of life care over the past 30 years.
Those attending the talk raised £642 and Gurbaksh Kaur Khalsa also generously donated another £100.
President Manjit Singh said: “We added the money raised to an event we held last and have now presented Kirkwood Hospice with a cheque for £870.” trust each other’s judgement.
“But it’s not just the staff – it’s the community, the parents and the pupils too. I know it’s corny, but I believe one person can’t change a whole school, it has to be everyone working together.”
The Ofsted report stated: “The headteacher and his senior leadership team have an uncompromising ambition for the school.
“Their strong leadership has led to much better teaching, much improved behaviour and higher achievement for pupils.”
It continued: “Leaders have taken effective action to eradicate weaker teaching and increase the proportion of good or better teaching.
“As a result, teaching is good overall and the progress made by pupils has accelerated over time.”
The report particularly praised leadership in science, which includes the heads of department Danni Samuel and Nadia Akhtar.
