QUALIFYING for the Huddersfie­ld Liberal Merit, sponsored by Golcar Lib, will be on Monday (6.30 start, 6.45 scratch).

It’s bowl down to four on each green and there is over £600 up for grabs in the final at Golcar Lib on Sunday, July 30 (2pm), when there will be medals for the last four.

Not only have the Moor got six players in the final, but three of them are former champions – Mark Atkinson, John Webster and Gary Siswick.

The other three from that club doing battle in the final at Farnley Tyas this Sunday (2pm), which is sponsored by Debriar Foodservic­e, are John Greenhalgh (beaten finalist in 2015), Thomas Fowler and Ray Whitwam.

There is one other previous winner in the field – Nicky White of Thongsbrid­ge, who took the crown in 2006 – and one other previous runner-up, Paul Ingleby of Lower Hopton, who reached the final in 1997.

This year’s winner will collect £200, while there is £100 for the runner-up.
