Nest’s Ashton claims yet another crown

PAST Crow Nest Park club Lady Captain Ann Ashton has lifted another trophy.

Ashton, who recently won the President’s Cup, took the Alan Naylor Trophy at the Mr Captain’s Day celebratio­n.

Ashton (left) won with 34 Stableford points and was closely followed by Lady Captain Jackie Turner who was second with 32 on countback from Lady vicecaptai­n Barbara Horrocks, with 32 in third.

Crow Nest Park Ladies held their annual AmAm and the winning team with 85 points were Julie Langfield from Crow Nest Park, Van Whitehill and Sue Smallburn from Bradley Hall and Denise Page from Willow Valley.

In second place with 84 points were a team headed by Sue Holdsworth from Lightcliff­e.

In third with 82 points came a team headed by Carole Hampson from Crow Nest Park GC.

The best visiting team with 73 points were from Bradley Hall and headed by Carole Fisher. ■■The Outlane Ladies Texas scramble proved to be a cliffhange­r when the host club’s Lynne Knight and Julie Hewitt combined with Meltham duo Bronwyn Todd and Sheila Rodgers to take the honours.

Their last-hole score ensured success over from another Outlane pairing of Irene Battye and Carol Crowther, who were paired up with another Meltham player Sue Whittaker and also Irene Peaker from Marsden.

Another shot behind in third place were Crosland Heath players Linda Whitwam and Jean Armitage, who teamed up with Hilary Dukes of Meltham and another Outlane player Jessica Hirst.
